About Rappahannock River Cruises

Virginia's Rappahannock River is full of adventure, history, and excitement. It all comes alive for you in a day you'll always remember, aboard the cruise boat "Captain Thomas".

The narrated cruise departs Hoskins Creek at Tappahannock at 10 A.M. You'll want to bring your binoculars, so you can get a close-up look at our rare, magnificent national symbol, the bald eagle. These magnificent birds nest in the trees and cliffs beside the Rappahannock.

There are about 50 year round resident eagles, with another 40 or so migratory bird that come and go all year round. Some of the birds you will see come to fish the waters of the Rappahannock, but nest as far as 50 miles away. You'll also want to see the many species of waterfowl and the points of interest as you enjoy a relaxing cruise eighteen miles upriver. Where the boat will dock, and you will escorted to one of Virginia’s top wineries, Ingleside Plantation.

Once at Ingleside, you can enjoy a buffet style lunch or take your own picnic to enjoy in the courtyard. After lunch, you are given a tour of the winery, where you can see the wine making process first hand. But, the real treat of any winery, is of course is the wine. A tasting of some of the premier wines that Ingleside has to offer follows the tour. The winery also boasts one of most unique gifts shops in the area. When you visit Ingleside via the Capt. Thomas you also can benefit from special discount pricing when you purchase wine.

Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing cruise back down the Rappahannock River; while you enjoy your glass of wine take all of the scenery that the river has to offer.


Rates and Schedule:
The cruises leaves Tappahannock at 10 am and returns at approximately 4:30 pm.
Cruises are May thru October and are $25 for adults and $13.00 for children.
Lunch(optional) is $11.00 for adults, $8.00 for children
